The following is an excerpt from ‘NEWSMAX.COM’s ‘Valentine’s Day History’. Put here to learn and show the origin of each holiday; perhaps to learn the situations in life which brought it about..
‘The date derives its name from several Christian martyrs from the early hundreds. (AD)
‘One specific Valentine is said to have been martyred in Africa on February 14th and that is where the date came from.
‘The romantic aspect of the holiday comes for Geoffrey Chaucer who wrote, “For this was Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate”. (I believe Chuacer to be wonderfully romantic..but for me sententious at times).
‘Critics mistakenly assumed he was referring to St. Valenine’s Day of February 14th, although that is not when birds would be mating.’
‘Chaucer’s writing seems to have brought it to light..prior to his writing it there was no existing holiday.’
‘It seems only just that the city of l0ve, Paris, adopted a High Court of Love on February 14th, 1400. This was run by woman on the basis of their poetry reading ability of the earliest written Valentine’s’.
Having excerpted here..I proceed to my poem for this day..
‘The romantic finds good purpose
News came this way..brand new holiday..brings peace, romance to the head..remembered youth in marriage bed..
In long lost past time it seems Missionaries had their dreams..buried intent of riches find..bring glory god to each mind..man without wife brings need..missionaries sought to breed..what the buried motive there..he was human..need not care..
Commands justified you see..by the Christian diety..plant the seed..burn the wood..God will know..you do good..for the soul..on the earth..they claimed they brought spiritual birth..each day night..then sunrise..did they proselytize?
Everyone knows the tale..how commands control must fail..against sun wind stars trees and rain..for greed kills spirit love brings pain..forgetting that..bad ol’ bad..thinking of the love I had..
Valentine wish here for thee..best love ever you could see..
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!
The fun and games mankind has had with this holiday is remembered..with pics..Peace Tony
